Jewelry designer Tan Yue, whose real name is Fan Shuxin, is a post-90s jewelry designer from Fujian.


At the beginning of the 21st century, it was the golden age of fantasy movies and Japanese animation. Like most post-90s generations, their artistic enlightenment from a young age came from various animations and movies broadcasted on television. The exquisite visuals and vivid imagination, whether it was the vast Middle earth world, the mysterious magic of Harry Potter, or the mysterious tarot cards of Sakura, planted the seeds of fantasy in his young heart. He, who is not good at socializing with his classmates, began to learn the gorgeous art style in animation, using his pen to build and depict his own world in his heart.


 

 

 

After graduating from high school, with a longing for European classical culture, he took the step of studying abroad. During his studies at the renowned European Design Institute in Italy, he studied under Luca Battoreschi, former design director of Bulgari, and Barbara Brocchi, illustrator. However, unlike most of his classmates who blindly pursue imitating the design style of big brands, under the guidance of Paula Volpi, a renowned experimental jewelry designer in Italy, he hoped to explore his own style.


At the beginning, he attempted to learn and explore Gothic style in his design. Later, he began to linger in various churches, palaces, and museums in Italy. During his spare time, he visited hundreds of churches and took thousands of photos. The magnificent Baroque architecture, exquisite patterns, and religious elements gave him many inspirations in his designs.


 

 

 

    

Artists in history use various forms to express and explore the beauty in their hearts. So, whether there really exists the ultimate "aesthetics" in the world, and whether they can touch the ultimate aesthetics in their limited lives; Can he leave a trace of his exploration of ultimate aesthetics in history?


 


Seemingly sturdy buildings may also be destroyed by humans or gradually deteriorate over time, and many magnificent arts eventually become legends that are difficult to trace in history. There are various carriers of art, but they are limited by their materials and their preservation time is limited. The paintings they can see today may decay in hundreds of years; The light of ideas that artists wanted to convey hundreds of years ago may not be able to be conveyed to future generations due to material factors.


During a study of jewelry from the Art Nouveau era, he suddenly realized that only "jewelry" is a form, because its material is immortal enough to not be damaged even after thousands or tens of thousands of years. Only in this form can it be passed down for a long time.


 

 

Afterwards, while exploring the path of design, he came to realize another viewpoint:


Jewelry (worn) is a part of showcasing a person's inner self. And whether wearing jewelry will also affect the wearer's heart, he believes so.


For example, a sharp armor like piece of jewelry can make up for a weak wearer's inner weakness during the wearing process.


 

 

 

Based on this philosophy, after graduating and returning to China, he and his assistant Xiao Xiao founded the independent designer brand Rose and Cross Star, named after romantic elements, with private customization as the main business. The brand's design style embodies his personal style, which is deeply influenced by European classicism but also has distinct characteristics. At the same time, every design also incorporates the thoughts that customers hope to express - whether it's love, longing, or emotions that customers want to express. He uses jewelry as a carrier of aesthetics, pouring in the scenery he has seen, the books he has read, and the things he has thought about one by one.


In addition to providing one-on-one customized services for customers, he has also designed character related designs for many famous IPs.

 

[Appreciation of Works]

 

 

The character Orshfang in Final Fantasy XIV is a knight who sacrificed his life to protect adventurers. When customizing this necklace, the customer hopes to reflect their representative element of unicorn to express their longing for the character. He depicted a knight holding a shield in the wind and snow through this design, using wings to protect the wearer behind him.

 

 

This Opal reminds people of the land exposed after the melting of the ice sheet - a brooch made by a girl using faith as a weapon and "the sword wielding girl in the ice sheet" as a design intention to express in the vast melting ice sheet.

 

 

So the main stone of this necklace is the "creation fragment" in the world he has set, surrounded by the flames of a girl pursuing human nature shattering everything, and the melting glaciers.


Describing the zero dimensional world with countless blue gemstones, it shatters in a crystalline state, and time begins to flow with the red flames.

 


All things in the world have an end, and only the ultimate of the universe will not perish. Humanity will eventually become extinct, and human civilization, civilization is the thing that can be eternal. Only civilization can compete with eternity, and aesthetics is a major part of civilization.


He knew that it was impossible for him to stand on the altar of truth (a setting in Liu Cixin's "Chaowen Dao") in this lifetime and sacrifice himself to witness the ultimate aesthetics of the universe. Therefore, he hoped that some of the works he constructed could become a tapestry in the vast picture of human civilization (Asimov's "Silver River Empire" meme), to compete with eternity. "
